Now I am not about to suggest Scottsdale's Mighty Magpies were the team of the century.  But to the people in that town they were.  The same situation applies to countless towns around Australia.

That is the great thing about sport.  That is why we must work tirelessly to ensure the industry continues to thrive and provide the same positive values and enjoyment for the generations to follow.

With the Olympic Games in Sydney next year understandably elite sport is the current sporting focus on our nation.  For two weeks the best athletes in the world will consume the interests of our planet.  But not one of those champions would be here is not for grass roots sport - if not for the millions of "Mighty Magpies" around the world.
