The launch of the Institute of Sport Management in August signals the beginning of a new sense of unity and direction for professional sport managers.  Developed as an international organisation, the Institute of Sport Management has introduced a range of services & programs designed for the burgeoning sport management industry.

The Institute of Sport Management has as its mission -

To represent and service the interests of Sports Managers, to enhance their profile, credibility, professionalism  and on going development.

The three key promises the Institute of Sport Management makes to the sporting community are that each ISM registered Sport Manager has:

• agreed to abide by a strict Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct;
• agreed to undertake structured Continuing Professional Development each year; and
• attained prescribed levels of competencies as a result of work experiences and/or study.

The Institute of Sport Management fosters higher sport management standards through its five tiered approach to membership.  This includes three levels of certification and the designation of a post-nominal as follows:

• ISM Members;
• ISM Pathways Program - designed for Full-time and/or Part-time students;
• Associate, Institute of Sport Manager (A.I.S.M.);
• Certified Practising Sport Manager (C.P.S.M.):
• Fellow, Institute of Sport Management (E.I.S.M.)

The Institute of Sport Management certification has been developed as an international standard for Sport Managers.  Once an Institute of Sport Management certification is attained the member's competencies and experience levels will be recognised in the sport industry worldwide.  In fact through the Institute of Sport Management, members can be part of a global network of Sport Managers.
